Rishabh C. Date, MD is a vitreoretinal surgeon at NJRetina. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of California San Diego where he graduated summa cum laude and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society, he earned his medical degree from UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine.

He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston followed by a two-year fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville.

Dr. Date has held numerous leadership appointments, serving as President of the UCLA Medical Student Chapter of the American Medical Association and Advocacy Program Ambassador for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Date has received numerous honors and awards, including the J. Donald M. Gass Fellowship Award from Vanderbilt University and the Best Paper of Session, awarded by the American Academy of Ophthalmology in 2017.  He has presented at national meetings including the Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology and the American Society of Retinal Specialists.  Dr. Date has authored numerous book chapters and original papers, in various peer-reviewed journals including the American Journal of Ophthalmology and Ophthalmology Retina.

He is board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and a member of the American Society of Retina Specialists, Association for Research and Vision in Ophthalmology, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.  Dr.  Date enjoys tennis, hiking, bowling, baking, and traveling.
