Dr. Alterman received his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency in Ophthalmology at Michigan State University’s St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Alterman served as Chief intern and Chief resident while completing his Ophthalmology training.
At Bethlehem Eye Associates, Dr. Alterman provides comprehensive routine, medical, laser & surgical eye care. He sees patients for eye exams for retinal disease such as diabetic retinopathy and macular degeneration (AMD), diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, eyelid disorders and regular eye health and comprehensive ophthalmology problems and conditions and has a special interest in laser cataract surgery and advanced intraocular lens implants (IOL), including toric lens implants to correct astigmatism and multifocal lenses to help cataract surgery patients reduce their dependence on eyeglasses, bifocals or reading glasses after cataract surgery. Dr. Alterman also has a special interest and expertise in eyelid surgery and cosmetic oculoplastic procedures.
