A native Bostonian who began her educational journey by earning a B.S. in Biology cum laude from Wellesley College, Dr. Reid’s scope of knowledge and experience broadened as her professional training took her to the middle of the country and then back to the east coast. She received her M.D. from Georgetown University and remained in Washington, D.C. to complete her Ophthalmology residency at The Washington Hospital Center, where she served as Chief Resident. Her next stop was at the University of Kansas in Kansas City, Kansas, where she did her Medical & Surgical Retinal fellowship.

Dr. Reid’s professional career consisted of close to 20 years at Retina Associates—the last 14 of which were spent as a partner—prior to her joining The Retina Group of Washington as a result of the RGW-RA merger. She had the work ethic and multitasking talents to complete her MBA in Health Care at George Washington University while simultaneously maintaining a full patient schedule.

As a board-certified ophthalmologist licensed to practice in Maryland, Virginia and Massachusetts, Dr. Reid specializes in the medical and surgical treatment of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Diabetic Retinopathy, Vitreoretinal Surgery and the full range of retinal and macular diseases. She has been recognized as a US News’ “Top Doctor,” a Washington/Baltimore “Top Doctor” and Baltimore Sun “Top Doctor.” Research has always been a focal point of Dr. Reid’s work, and she has served as principal investigator for numerous clinical trials, studying biopharmaceuticals and AMD among other eye conditions.

Dr. Reid is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Retina Specialists, and the Maryland Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons. She serves on several hospital committees, and until recently was the Chief of the Ophthalmology Department at Anne Arundel Medical Center. Dr. Reid enjoys participating in many sports; she is a PADI-certified Dive Master and Assistant scuba diving instructor.
