Dr. Sean D. Kim is a Retina Specialist and Vitreoretinal Surgeon at the Retina Care Center, which serves patients across Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Delaware. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of medical and surgical vitreoretinal diseases, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusion, retinal detachment, epiretinal membrane, macular hole, secondary intraocular lenses, and complex traumatic ocular injuries. Dr. Kim is fluent in both English and Korean.

Originally from South Korea and raised in Ellicott City, Maryland, Dr. Kim earned his undergraduate degree in chemistry from New York University. He received his medical degree from Penn State College of Medicine, where he also completed his residency in Ophthalmology. He went on to complete a fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the University of Nebraska.

Dr. Kim is deeply committed to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. He is passionate about educating his patients and empowering them to make informed decisions about their eye health. His goal is to deliver individualized treatment plans that achieve the best possible visual outcomes.

Outside of his clinical practice, Dr. Kim enjoys spending time with his partner, Eileen, and their miniature poodle, Olivia. He is an avid Formula 1 enthusiast and enjoys playing video games in his free time.
